Privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Piradoku is a puzzle game for young and old. You play without an account, there are no ads and nothing tracks you across other apps or websites. This page explains exactly what does leave your phone, why, who handles it and how long it is kept. It covers the Piradoku app for iPhone and this website.

The short version

Who is responsible

Piradoku is made by Softomic, the sole proprietorship of T. van den Bogaart, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 92991068, in the Netherlands. Softomic is the controller of your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can reach us about anything on this page at info@piradoku.com.

What stays on your phone

Everything you do in the game is stored on your device only: which puzzles you solved, your route on a half finished board, your coins, compasses and lives, your streak, the sails, flags and hulls you own, and your settings. We cannot see any of it. Deleting the app deletes it.

Anonymous statistics

To learn which puzzles are too hard, where players stop and whether the daily puzzle is liked, the app sends short events: a puzzle started or solved (with its world and number, how many mistakes and whether a compass was used), a mistake, a compass used, lives running out, the daily puzzle solved with the length of the streak, a world opened, a purchase and coins spent. Each event also carries the app version, the iOS version and the type of device.

The events are linked to a random number that the app makes up when it is installed, not to you, your Apple account or your device's advertising identifier. We do not build a profile of anyone. The events are processed for us by PostHog, on servers in the European Union, as our processor. PostHog keeps them for at most one year.

We rely on our legitimate interest in making the game better (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can switch the statistics off at any time under Settings, Share statistics, after which the app sends nothing more.

Purchases

Coins, compasses, the shipmate pack and support are sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment under Apple's privacy policy; we never see your card, your name or your Apple account. The app receives a signed record of the purchase from Apple so it can hand out what you bought. To keep track of sales we use RevenueCat as our processor, which stores those purchase records with the same kind of random number, in the United States under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Purchase records are kept as long as Dutch tax law requires, which is seven years. The legal basis is the contract you enter by buying.

Reminders

If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on your phone: when your lives are full again, the puzzle of the day in the evening, and once after a few days away. They are made and delivered by your phone itself; no information about them is sent to us. You can turn them off in the app's settings or in the iPhone settings.

Children

Piradoku is made for all ages. Because the game asks for nothing about you, works without an account and has no ads, no chat and no links to social media, children can play it without sharing personal data. Purchases are protected by the App Store, and parents can block them with Screen Time or Ask to Buy.

This website

piradoku.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Our host, Vercel, processes the internet address of your device to deliver the pages and keeps short server logs to keep the site secure.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to object to its use and to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). Because the statistics and purchase records are tied to a random number and not to you, we cannot find them by your name, and nobody can trace them back to you. Switching the statistics off and deleting the app stops all further collection, and the statistics already sent are deleted after one year. For any question or request, write to info@piradoku.com.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters for what we collect, the app will tell you.
